Will Ferrell And Viveca Paulson Welcome New Son

Congratulations to Will Ferrell and his wife, Viveca Paulson on the arrival of their new son Mattias.

The baby arrived on Dec.30 2006 just after 2am.

People Reports that:

Will and Viveca, 37, an art auctioneer, already have one son, Magnus, 2.

In November, while on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote his movie Stranger Than Fiction, Farrell revealed that the baby would be a boy.

When asked if he knew the baby’s gender, Ferrell, 39, responded: “You know, I don’t know if I do,” he said. “I’ve gotta check my BlackBerry.”

He continued, “Well, we do know, but I forget if we’re telling people. I told the Today show we weren’t telling them. But it’s a boy.

Asked by Letterman how Magnus was handling the idea of a little brother, Ferrell said, “He doesn’t like it. He’s in denial about it. … I’m like, ‘You better live it up now, cause No. 2 is coming and it’s not going to be fun for you.’”

We wish them the best. Hopefully Magnus will realize he’s the big man on campus and that someday his little brother will be running errands for him and cleaning his car out….

More Women Over 45 Having Babies

The number of British women giving birth aged over 45 has doubled within a decade, official figures show. Yesterday we reported on lady from Barcelona who gave birth to twins at 67.

Experts believe it reflects a growing trend for young women to want a career before starting a family.

Advances in fertility treatment have also allowed more women to prolong the childbearing years.

However experts warned women against being lulled into a false sense of security and waiting until their forties to conceive.

They warned while some women do give birth at this age, many will suffer heartbreak if they then find they are no longer able to have children.

Official figures from the Office for National Statistics show that in 2005 1,091women gave birth over the age of 45 compared to just 540 in 1995.

Overall, the number of women having babies in their forties rose to 22,246 in 2005 compared to 11,319 a decade earlier.

Among those who have given birth in their forties are Cherie Blair, who had her fourth child Leo when she was 45, and Madonna who had Rocco at the age of 41.

Actress Emma Thompson had her daughter Gaia when she was 40, following IVF treatment, however attempts to have a second child have failed.

A woman’s chance of falling pregnant drop as she ages and even if she does conceive, she faces a higher risk of miscarriage, birth defects and labour complications.Medically speaking the best time to have your baby is between the ages of 21 and 25, and the chances of complications are increased if you leave it until late in life,’ he said.

‘But I don’t think older mothers place any burden on society - 40-year-olds are much fitter and are more likely to be able to afford the cost of parenting,’ Dr Peter Bowen-Simpkins from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Californian scientists recently concluded that women who give birth in their fifties make just as good mothers as those who give birth much earlier in life.

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s annual conference last year heard how a study showed they were no more likely to be physically or emotionally stressed than younger mothers.

I read an article a couple months ago stating that because women were waiting longer to have children, they were more financially stable. This has increased the market for luxury baby items because these moms have more money to spend on their babies.

Toronto Baby Believed To Be 1st Baby Of 2007 In Canada

A healthy baby boy delivered in a Toronto hospital seconds after midnight is believed to be the first Canadian newborn of 2007.

The infant, who does not yet have a name, arrived seven days late but just in time to receive the distinction. He was supposed to be born on Christmas Day.

Sri Lankan parents Nortan Patrick and Mary Tharusha are delighted with their seven-pound, 13-ounce son, who was born at Scarborough Grace Hospital.

Patrick, a 32-year-old truck driver, had never even held a baby until now. He always felt they were too delicate.

Patrick said his sister bet him $100 the baby would be born on New Year’s Day. Now he has to hand over the cash.

Tharusha’s bracelet had the numbers 00:00 on it to reflect the time of birth. The 23-year-old homemaker’s parents live in Germany and when they got the news, they extended their New Year celebration.

This little man was late for a reason…he wanted to be first!! He has now made history and will have a great story to tell his children. Congratulation to Nortan and Mary. Enjoy your son, he’ll be walking before you know it!!
