RECALL: Hasbro Easy Bake Ovens

Toymaker Hasbro has recalled 985,000 Easy-Bake toy ovens after finding that a child’s hands and fingers can get caught in the oven’s opening, risking serious burns.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received five reports of burns amid 29 reports of children getting their hands or fingers caught in the oven’s opening.

The Easy-Bake toy ovens are made of purple and pink plastic and resemble a kitchen range with four burners on top and a front-loading oven. “Easy Bake” is printed on the front of the toy ovens that were manufactured in China.

Model number 65805 and “Hasbro” are stamped into the plastic on the back of the oven.

The Easy Bake Oven is an electric toy and is not recommended for children under 8 years of age. The ovens were sold at Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Target, KB Toys and other retailers nationwide from May 2006 through February 2007. The toy costs about $25.

Toy ovens sold before May 2006 are not included in this recall, the agency said.

The CPSC said consumers should contact Easy-Bake between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET to receive a free retrofit kit with consumer warning. Additionally, consumers can contact Easy-Bake at 800-601-8418.

Hasbro is the number two toymaker after Mattel.

Hospital Holds Baby Hostage

A Serbian hospital has refused to hand a newborn baby back to its mother until she pays her hospital fees.

Macedonian Senija Roganovic gave birth in the Neonatology Hospital in Belgrade two months ago.

But her baby has been kept in the hospital ever since because she has not paid a £4,250 bill for a ten day stay.

She said she had no health insurance in Serbia, and had no way of raising the money to pay the hospital fees.

Roganovic has reportedly fallen ill with worry over the fate of her child and has lost two stones in weight.

Can they really keep your baby for not paying your bill? Have these people not heard of a payment plan?

Eva Herzigova On The Cover Of Vanity Fair

I love beautiful pregnancy photos. Vanity Fair is known for their tasteful yet iconic pregnancy shots. Italian Vanity Fair has Eva Herzigova this month and she looks fabulous!

She stunned the fashion world four years ago looking painfully thin and dangerously ill.

But supermodel Eva Herzigova is piling on the pounds and glad to show it.

For Czech-born Eva, 33, is six months pregnant - and decided to announce the news by posing on the front cover of Italian Vanity Fair. And she shows she still looks fantastic after more than 16 years as a model.

Eva - the woman who put the Wonder in Wonderbra in the iconic posters under the slogan “Hello, Boys’ - follows in the footsteps of actress Demi Moore, who was photographed by US Vanity Fair when she was expecting.

Despite her success in the “Hello Boys’ campaign, Eva’s career has been blighted by rumours of drug addiction - especially after her dramatic appearance at a New York fashion show in 2003, an image of ‘heroin chic’ with hollow cheeks, sunken eyes and blue lips peppered with cold sores.

But she denied suggestions she was an addict, saying: “I don’t take drugs. I’ve never even tried them. They’ve always been around me but I’ve never ever been tempted. But I have seen the effects of drugs on other people.”

Eva, who counts Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen as her closest friends, has been on more than 100 magazine covers in her career, which started when she was just 16.

She met her boyfriend and father of her baby, Italian fashion magnate Gregorio Marsiaj, 30, in 2001 after she was stranded in Italy when flights back to the US were grounded following the 9/11 attacks in New York.

And she is delighted at being pregnant. She said: “To feel a life growing inside you brings out all your femininity. I am also eating like I have never done before.

“I used to hate desserts but now I can’t resist the smell of the cake shop.

Some think that the cover shot is in bad taste. I think it is okay to be sexy while you are pregnant. Eva has been in front of the camera her whole life. She does it very well!!

Been Fishin’

Photo taken in St. Lucia

After a week in the Caribbean I am back to snow on my doorstep and temperatures in the minus.

I had hoped to continue to update this site while I was away. I even hauled my laptop halfway around the world, but once we arrived I was informed that the ship we were on did not support my computer’s operating system. :( So my Mac stayed in the drawer, only to be used for uploading photos and playing DVDs to keep my son occupied. I could have however used the computers that the ship has in the public areas for a bargain rate of .50 per minute which I politely turned down.

I hope everyone had a good week…new posts to come.
