Nicole Kidman Gets Pampered

Mom-to-be Nicole Kidman goes for a pre-natal check up with husband Keith Urban(not pictured) outside a Nashville, Tennessee clinic and then the spa.

The Oscar winning actress expects her first biological child in July. She has 2 adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise Connor, 13 and Isabella, 16.

The dailymail noted:

Wearing a yellow summer dress, Kidman’s modest bump was difficult to see, despite being in her final trimester.

I agree, but it is worth mentioning that Nicole is so tall, her bump doesn’t really ‘pop’ out the front like other smaller celebrities.

RECALL: Calcilo XD Low-Calcium/Vitamin D-Free Infant Formula with Iron powder

Abbott Laboratories says it is voluntarily recalling two lots of Calcilo XD Low-Calcium/Vitamin D-Free Infant Formula with Iron powder.

The formula is specially designed for infants and children with hypercalcemia - high levels of calcium - in their blood.

A news release on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) web site says the formula was distributed in Canada and the U.S. between June 6, 2006 and April 17, 2008.

The recall is limited to Calcilo XD in 400g cans, with stock code number 00378 and lot numbers 39973RB or 47239RB6 printed on the bottom of the cans. No other Calcilo XD powdered infant formulas are affected.

The company says small amounts of air may have entered the can, resulting in oxidation of the formula, which can often be detected by an off odour.

The FDA says consumption of highly oxidized foods can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If parents have questions or concerns, the release says they should contact a health care professional.

Consumers who purchased Calcilo formula powder from either of the two recalled lots can also contact the company, Abbott Nutrition, at 1-800-638-6493.

Baby Has Surgery Inutero To Save Legs

On Friday, we introduced you Macie McCartney the little infant who was removed from the womb at 24 weeks to have a tumor removed and then put back in to grow a bit longer.

Today, Australian doctors are talking about a 22 weeker that needed to have a rare and delicate procedure done while she was still in the womb.

Kylie Bowlen was 22 weeks pregnant when surgeons from Melbourne’s Monash Medical Centre removed amniotic bands from above her baby’s left ankle.

After Leah Bowlen was born, surgeons at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital were able to remove amniotic bands from her right leg, which was at risk of being amputated.

The surgery inside the womb is the fifth case in Australia and is thought to be the earliest in utero surgery of its type in the world.

This reminds me of the famous picture that everyone has seen with the baby’s hand sticking out of the womb while surgeons perform surgery on him/her.

It really is so amazing what can be done for a baby that is barely a pound.
