Baby Waiting For Heart Surprises Doctors By Surviving Off Life Support

Theo Davis, from Keswick, Cumbria, has hyperplastic left heart syndrome, which means he was born with half a heart.

He has had five operations and been given just two weeks to live without a new organ.

He recently amazed doctors by coming off his life support machine and breathing on his own, giving him more time to live. Parents, Rebecca Giles and Ryan Davis said they were delighted with their son’s progress.

Dr Richard Kirk, a consultant paediatric cardiologist, urged people to consider becoming donors.

He said: “No-one can ever know if they are going to be in a situation where their child’s life is threatened.

“They could even be asked to consider letting their child be a donor. We would urge people to think about that and those kind of issues well ahead of time. This would be very helpful.”

“Theo has had to fight all his life - he was born with only half a heart so one side has had to fight for the other side and he has surprised all the doctors, ” he added.

Do You Need Milkscreen?

Up Spring Baby makes a product that allows new moms know the volume of alcohol concentrated in their milk.

Studies have shown infants consuming breast milk with alcohol concentrations at approximately 30mg/dl, or .03%, and higher have exhibited distinctive changes in:

  • Feeding behavior: baby consumes less if the milk contains alcohol.
  • Sleep: baby sleeps less and wakes more frequently.

The milkscreen™ test is set to show a color change at .02% to let Mom know if her milk contains a level of alcohol that may negatively impact baby.

I only drank twice while I was breastfeeding and I was instructed so by the NICU nurse to try and get my milk flowing…

I guess these test strips would come in handy if you had a wedding to go to or were celebrating a special occasion.

Have the Jolie-Pitt Twins Arrived??

It is being reported by many news outlets that Brad Pitt and Angelina jolie have welcomed twin girls in Nice France.

Intouchweekly is reporting that the babies arrived today at 6pm French time. The first baby was born at 6.45 pm and the other at 7pm. The babies are in good health, another insider says.

Sources say Brad Pitt was present during the birth. When contacted by In Touch, the hospital’s spokesperson, Nadine Bauer, said that journalists would not be notified ”within minutes” after the birth and that the only way they would be told was by a press release posted on the hospital Web site.

Another insider added that Angelina is expected to leave the hospital with her newborns within 48 hours.

The mom-to-be checked into the seafront hospital earlier this month. In anticipation of the twins arrival.

Dad-To-Be Trades Right to Name His Baby for $100 Gas Card

Well you know that things are tough at the pump when a dad-to-be trades the naming rights to his unborn son for a $100 gas card.

David Partin recently heard that a local radio station was giving $100 worth of free gas to the listener who called in with the most interesting item to trade. Central Florida radio hosts Richard Dixon and J. Willoughby were quick to take Partin up on his offer.

When the baby is born this winter, he will be named Dixon and Willoughby Partin — with the “and” included.

Partin’s girlfriend, Samantha, says at least her son will have an interesting story about how he got his name.

Dixon and Willoughby plan to be at the hospital when the baby is born and will hand over the gas card when they see the official birth certificate.

$100?? Really?? What is this dad thinking? His poor son now has to go through life with this ridiculous name because his dad got $100!!!
