It was revealed today that a British Armed Forces soldier secretly delivered her daughter alone at an Army barracks.
The 20-year-old mother gave birth to a 6lb baby, which she then kept hidden in her quarters.
The newborn was eventually discovered by another soldier who heard her crying.
The mother, who is serving with the Royal Logistic Corps and has not been named, continued to take part in Army exercises throughout her pregnancy and wore loose clothes to the gym.
An officer asked the soldier if she was pregnant, but she denied it.
Both the mother and her baby are now being cared for in hospital in Oxford and are said to be doing well.
