A fund fine-tuned to protect donors and best benefit a homeless mother and her newborn triplets stood Thursday at almost $13,600.
The Roberts Triplets Assistance & Education Trust will allow donors to earmark cash gifts for everything from rent and utilities to college educations for triplets Noah, Grace, and Jonathan Roberts.
The babies were born Oct. 12 to Monica Roberts, of Barry County, after a short-lived relationship with a man whom Roberts says has not stepped forward.
“I got evicted out of my place,” Monica said. “I lost my job and there was just a lot going on.”
The new mother has been living in a shelter along with her older son and mother. All six are in one room.
News of her homeless status has received national attention, with donations pouring in for as far as Los Angeles.
Gerber offered diapers and formula, and two anonymous donors have offered six months’ rent and utilities.
“I’m just shocked, overwhelmed. I’m just happy about it all. You know, God has done all the work and I thank God for it all. So He has worked through so many people,” Roberts said.
If you would like to help, checks can be made out to the Roberts Triplets Assistance Education Trust and mailed to Green Gables Haven at P.O. Box 388, Hastings, Michigan.
