With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, People Magazine spoke Kate Gosselin about the holidays and her plans.
For many of us, having such a big family would cause stress during the busy season, but not Kate.
“I just love Thanksgiving and Christmas. I feel like Thanksgiving is all about looking at our blessings, being together as a family,” the mom of 8 tells the mag as she signs copies of her new book.
On the eve of Thanksgiving, she can be found in her kitchen preparing for at least 15 additional guests.
“The day before I prepare everything to just throw it in the oven. The pies, all the desserts I bake the day before,” she says. “Jon requires the same meal every year. I have to bake a pumpkin pie. I’m not real crazy about it but you just have to have one on Thanksgiving.”
The Gosselins wants to develop their own holiday family traditions to pass on to her eight kids, which is why you won’t just find pumpkin pie on the table. Kate likes to include an egg custard pie and apple pie.
“I want our kids to be able to look back on the holidays and remember very concrete things,” she says. “I love to pull it off and I always get carried away. It’s just the holiday spirit; it’s awesome. I love it.”
