When Aishah Yasin was wheeled into the delivery room for her fifth delivery, she was unaware that she would welcome a 13.5lb baby boy after 10 hours in labour.
The 35-year-old housewife, who had a normal delivery, said she was shocked when doctors informed her that her baby weighed so much.
“The doctor gave me a lot of encouragement when I was in the labour room,” she said, adding that her four other children were of normal weight when they were born.
During her pregnancy, Aishah said she did not eat anything out of the ordinary.
She did, however, admit to indulging in her favourite “buah kedondong” (hog plum fruit) and also drank lots of milk and iced tea.
“My husband would sometimes go all the way to Penang to buy the fruit for me.”
Awww! What a nice guy! The baby is the heaviest to have been delivered at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital to date and by the sounds of things he arrived vaginally? Wow! This mommy is a trooper. My 8.5 pounder did me in. I can’t imagine pushing out anything bigger!
