Nov 10, 2010 – London, England, UK – DOCTORS have saved the life of a baby suffering from ”bubble boy” syndrome using a cord blood transplant. Imtiyaz Ahmed, now 11 months, has a rare gene disorder which affects the immune system and would not have survived without the treatment. His parents, Nila and husband Mirza, had already lost a son, also called Mirza, at four months, because his body could not fight infection and they feared losing another child.
