Lakecia Thomas is one mom whose bond with her newborn daughter is going to be extra special. It is because both mother and daughter share the same birthday – New Years Day!
Lakecia celebrated her birthday at the St. Mary’s hospital for women and children at Evansville, Vanderburgh County – the same place where she was born 34 years ago.
The new mom was expecting her 10th child and first with boyfriend Dale McDonald, on 8th January. And while she had planned a birthday steak dinner on the 1st, the baby surely did not want to miss the opportunity to double the celebrations for the family and arrived early.
The baby girl arrived via c-section weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces.
The mother is now waiting to see the baby before naming her.
Lakecia says, “We’re going to share many, many birthdays together, I wasn’t expecting to be in the hospital.” She also adds that her other kids ranging from 3 to 17 years of age are anxious to meet the newest addition to the family.
For Dale, who became a first-time father the feeling is extremely special. He said that he was overjoyed with the birth of his daughter and joked that because the date was so special, he would never forget her birthday.
Because the newborn is also the first New Year baby born in the hospital, she is going home with a red wagon full of gifts from the hospital as well as local businesses.
