As we wish our friends to the South a Happy Thanksgiving, I would like to share some of my favorite thankful quotes. Around this time of year we can be overscheduled, stressed about the holidays or just caught up in family drama. Some of these quotes put the basics into perspective.
- “Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” Melody Beattie
- “It is impossible to feel grateful and depressed in the same moment.” Naomi Williams
- “Forget yesterday–it has already forgotten you. Don’t sweat tomorrow–you haven’t even met. Instead, open your eyes and your heart to a truly precious gift–today.” Steve Maraboli
- “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.” — John F. Kennedy
- “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.” ~ Cicero
- “Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have—life itself.” ~ Walter Anderson
- “Gratitude doesn’t change the scenery. It merely washes clean the glass you look through so you can clearly see the colors.” ~ Richelle E. Goodrich
- “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” — Willie Nelson
