In a heart-stopping moment captured on dashcam, Officer Brenden Fraser of the Warren Police Department in Michigan became a hero when he saved the life of an 18-month-old baby. Fraser was in the midst of pulling over a reckless driver during rush hour when he noticed something was terribly wrong. Approaching the vehicle, he discovered a terrified mother with a baby in her lap. The driver, a male, urgently flagged Fraser down and explained that the baby was not breathing.

In a video recounting the incident, Fraser recalls the urgency he felt as he rushed to the driver’s side of the vehicle. With the baby appearing limp, he immediately sprang into action, administering a few back blows. The sight of saliva and regurgitation on his arm was a sign that his efforts were paying off.

But Fraser’s heroism doesn’t end there. Calming down the distressed mother and uncle was just as crucial to him as saving the baby. With a comforting voice, he reassured the mother that the baby was breathing and the once-blue skin was returning to normal.

As other officers arrived on the scene, the child was rushed to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, after a short stay, the baby was released and reunited with their family.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer commended Officer Fraser’s heroic actions in a news release, recognizing that police work is not just about writing tickets or making arrests. He has nominated Fraser for a well-deserved life-saving award.

The public has also praised Fraser for his quick thinking and composure during the intense situation. Social media users in a police scanner Facebook group hailed him as amazing and thanked him for remaining calm.

In light of the incident, Fraser encourages everyone to call 911 and let professionals handle emergencies to prevent accidents or injuries. And to his fellow officers, he emphasizes the importance of relying on their training and repeatedly going over proper procedures.
