Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City recently welcomed a very special arrival—Murphy Krenger, who tipped the scales at an impressive 11 pounds, 4 ounces at birth! Delivered by Dr. Jennifer Strebel, “Big Murph” holds the record as the largest baby she’s welcomed in her 20 years of delivering newborns.
Murphy’s mom, Chloe, and dad, Joseph, are no strangers to big babies. Their older sons, 4-year-old Joseph (born at 9 lbs., 8 oz.) and 2-year-old Teddy (8 lbs., 10 oz.), are also in the heavyweight division of newborns. With this lineup, the Krenger boys could be the next Lucious, Dewey, and Lee Roy Selmon—Oklahoma football royalty!
Just how rare is a baby Murphy’s size? According to medical research, fewer than 1 in 100 babies weigh over 11 pounds at birth. Most full-term newborns weigh between 5.5 and 8.8 pounds, making Murphy’s stats even more remarkable. To put it in perspective, an average baby doesn’t reach 11 pounds until around two months old!
