In an unexpected turn of events, a Mississippi woman gave birth at the Golden Corral in North Little Rock, transforming a routine family meal into an unforgettable experience.
Tayvia Woodfork, the mother of the newborn Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork, was unaware of her pregnancy until she went into labor in the restaurant bathroom.
“I’m still in shock,” Tayvia admitted.
This remarkable birth was the result of a rare phenomenon known as cryptic pregnancy, where a woman doesn’t realize she’s pregnant until labor begins. According to the American Pregnancy Association, this condition can occur without any of the typical pregnancy symptoms.
On the day Tamaar was born, Tayvia, her mother Tameka, and other family members had stopped at Golden Corral for a meal before heading back home to Mississippi.
“I didn’t even make it to the table,” Tayvia recalled. Instead, she went straight to the bathroom, believing she had severe cramps, which turned out to be contractions.
“The baby was six pounds. It was a full baby,” grandmother Tameka Woodfork recounted.
Tameka described the shocking moment when Tayvia’s sister discovered the newborn in the restroom. “She went around and looked in the toilet. She said, ‘I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s a baby!’”
The unexpected birth caught everyone off guard, including the Golden Corral staff and diners. As Tayvia was taken out on a stretcher, the restaurant erupted in applause.
Reflecting on the ordeal, Tayvia described the pain as “10 out of 10.”Back home, baby Tamaar has become a local celebrity. “Everybody wants to see the Golden Corral baby,” Tameka shared.
Golden Corral acknowledged the unique event on Facebook, declaring baby Tamaar the youngest fan in their history.
