On Thursday American Girl debuted its Girl of the Year doll for 2016 on Good Morning America. Lea Clark is a talented photographer and animal lover.
Lea is the newest girl in the popular line of dolls from diverse backgrounds and interests.
Good Morning America notes that Lea is described as an adventurous 10-year-old girl who discovers a world of possibilities when she visits Brazil.
Lea’s collection includes a doll, tropical-inspired outfits, accessories, and toys. Fans of the brand will be able to purchase her through American Girl’s catalog, on the company’s website, all of its retail locations, and its specialty boutiques starting January 1st.
This Summer American Girl will release an action film based on Lea’s travels. Three books (Lea Dives In, Lea Leads The Way, and Lea and the Camila), written by Lisa Yee, will introduce fans to her adventures.
On Thursday American Girl also revealed they have created a year-long fundraising campaign to support the World Wildlife Fund. The company has made a $50,000 donation to launch the campaign and they will also give $1 to the fund – for a maximum of $100,000 – for every purchase of one of three plush animals in Lea’s collection.
Through its Wild at Art campaign, the doll maker is urging girls to use their artistic abilities to host an art sale and donate the proceeds to the funds.
