A woman in Bahawalpur has made national news after giving birth to five babies at once, a rare and remarkable event. The woman, from the Dera Bakha area, delivered four girls and a boy at Nawab Sir Sadiq Khan Hospital. Fortunately, all the babies are alive and well, although they are currently being closely monitored in the intensive care unit.
This comes just weeks after another incredible multiple birth at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi, where a woman gave birth to sextuplets (six babies). Tragically, one of the babies did not survive. However, the surviving children, four boys and a girl, have been transferred to the National Institute of Child Health for specialized care.
