A Chinese mom has surprised many – including herself – by welcoming one of the world’s heaviest babies.
The baby girl, who was born in Tonghua City on February 6, 2011, arrived weighing a mighty 6.8kg (15lbs), measuring 68cm(26 inches) long. Â Doctors have jokingly nicknamed the baby “Qian Qian”, which means “Slim”.
According to news reports, the baby’s mother only weighed 80kg (176lbs) before she got pregnant but her weight had jumped to 100kg (220lbs) by the time she gave birth.
The world’s heaviest surviving baby is believed to be a 22lbs 8oz boy born in Italy in 1955.
