Costway Recalls 4,400 Babyjoy High Chairs Due to Entrapment and Suffocation Hazards

Parents who purchased Costway’s Babyjoy high chairs should stop using them immediately due to serious safety concerns. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 4,400 Babyjoy high chairs because they pose fatal suffocation and entrapment hazards, violating federal safety regulations.

Costway Recalls 4,400 Babyjoy High Chairs Due to Entrapment and Suffocation Hazards

The recall was initiated after it was determined that the high chairs violated two major safety regulations:

  • Inclined Sleep Hazard: The high chairs were marketed and designed in a way that allowed for infant sleep with an incline greater than 10 degrees. This directly violates the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, which bans inclined sleepers due to the well-documented risk of suffocation.
  • Entrapment Hazard: The opening between the seat and tray is large enough for a child to become trapped, posing a deadly risk of entrapment and suffocation. This design flaw violates federal regulations for high chairs.

While no injuries or incidents have been reported, safety experts urge parents and caregivers to take immediate action to prevent potential tragedies.
