Today marks a significant milestone for Disney Cruise Line as they celebrate the keel laying ceremony of their newest ship, the Disney Destiny, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Steeped in maritime tradition, this ceremony sets the stage for a ship that will become legendary in its own right.
The Disney Destiny, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will embrace the theme of “Heroes and Villains,” drawing inspiration from cherished Disney stories, characters, and theme park attractions.
The design of the Disney Destiny reflects the dynamic duality found in every great Disney story, where light and dark forces propel characters toward their destinies. Guests will encounter iconic heroes and infamous villains from beloved Disney Animation Studios classics like “The Lion King,” “Hercules,” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” throughout their cruise experience.
Setting Sail with Minnie Mouse: To capture the essence of the theme, Disney has unveiled stunning new artwork adorning the bow of the Disney Destiny. Featuring Minnie Mouse in a bold and valiant pose, this illustration embodies the spirit of adventure as she leads families toward their vacation destinies with grace and courage.
Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, expressed excitement about the Disney Destiny, stating, “Our newest ship will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, offering families new and exciting ways to experience the magic of Disney at sea.”
Set for delivery in 2025, the Disney Destiny is part of a multi-year expansion that includes the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, along with the Disney Adventure, set to homeport in Singapore, and the enchanting new island destination in The Bahamas, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
