Installation:
Out of the box it’s obvious that this is a great full size stroller, however this means that you need to put a little more effort into assembly. You’ll need to attach the wheels, the canopy and the cup holders – all are pretty straight forward and assembly should take about 15minutes.
Getting started:
Opening the frame is very easy, simply unlatch the lock and pull up on the handlebars. From there you can either insert the car seat adaptor or the toddler seat to the frame. To attach either, simply place them onto the mounts and push down until they lock into place. Note: the car seat adaptor can only fit securely into the adapter in one direction. However there are two labels on the inside of the adapter identifying the correct direction in which to install, making it easy for you to ensure that you’ve done it correctly.
Features:
The system is designed so that the infant car seat sits high on the frame while also bringing your infant 7” closer to you (compared to a traditional Graco travel system). This closeness makes it easy to calm a baby during fussy moments and also helps to create parent-baby bonding.
The toddler seat has a convenient one-handed button on the back that reclines the seat to three different positions: upright, halfway back and fully reclined to accommodate a newborn. The seat is adjusted easily by pressing the button and tipping the seat to the next position in a nice smooth motion.
One of my favorite features is that Graco has designed the 3-in-1 with their curved push handle that allows you to easily reach your baby without straining. I also found that the curved handle, coupled with the wide wheels made for an extremely comfortable push. I didn’t find myself kicking the wheels at all.
The stroller is designed to hold a child up to 50 lbs. and includes a convertible 3 or 5-point harness that grows with your child. While the harness comes with shoulder and centre pads – I’d really like to see these snap onto the harness as I found that they came off too easily.
One of the first things I noticed about this stroller is how sturdy the canopy is. During our trial we weren’t out in severe weather but I’m confident that should you get caught in strong winds you won’t have to worry about the canopy flopping around in the wind. The canopy offers you enough coverage to shade your child from the elements, while also featuring a window allowing you to check in and see what your wee one is up to.
In Use:
We did have a little accident that involved a fruit smoothie spilling on both my son and the stroller – and while I had a small panic attack at first, I was thrilled to find that the seat cushion is removable and can be washed in cold water on the delicate cycle in the washer and then hung dry. I’m happy to report that the seat is as good as new now. Also, should you ever need to clean the stroller frame Graco recommends that you simply use regular household soap and warm water.
If you are in the market for a reversible seat stroller that feels like a $500 plus, super expensive stroller, consider checking out the Graco 3-in-1 Modular Stroller first. You may find everything you are looking for at a fraction of the cost.
