The UK’s Galt Toys is well known for their educational products for kids of all ages. Their Farm themed Playnest & Gym is a unique space that was designed for babies from birth+.
A circular space that is anchored by an inflatable tube, the nest provides complete support for little ones who are playing in the middle.
From birth, we were able to use it along with a blanket to give the baby all-around support while they were cradled in the middle. The company recommends that parents deflate the tube a bit just so that it provides the baby with some support. Even after doing this, we found that the middle of the space was just to big, and having a blanket ensured that the baby was fully supported.
At around 3 months we found that the babies we used the playnest with were able to see the toys in the arches better and they giggled and reached for them.
Little ones that were 7 months old, however, were able to sit perfectly in the middle and navigate all of the animals that adorn the middle of the ring. Having a soft space on all sides of them with a big bonus as some of them weren’t able to completely sit up independently or were still a bit wobbly.
As your child gets older you can remove the arches and they can use the nest as a place where they sit and play. Parents should be aware that the arches only connect to the tube by velcro so they aren’t strong enough to be used as a support for little ones who aren’t able to stand on their own yet.
Overall the Playnest has been a big hit for us. The only downfall we found was that it can’t be stored easily when not in use. It does, however, have some good longevity so parents will appreciate that it does grow with their baby and can be used well past your child turns a year old.
The animals on the outside of the ring all have a different sensory aspect to them. Some crinkle or squeak, while others have soft patches on them. The arches hold a total of 7 toys, and the set includes 3 hanging toys and a mirror that can be reversed to show a sun. There are 4 additional spots that you can use to hold some of your kid’s favorite toys.
The cover is also machine washable, which is perfect for when your child spits up.
