Now that school is almost over all the kids can think of is Summer! When the nice weather hits the only place they want to be is outside playing at the park, riding their bikes, or swimming in the pool.
As a mom, one of my biggest concerns is sun exposure. Actually, I’m a little crazy about it because too much exposure early in life has been linked to a higher melanoma risk for adults. Plus, anyone who has ever had a sunburn knows how uncomfortable it can be. This is amplified for kids who don’t understand. Let’s be honest – no one has time for a sleepless night when a burn can be prevented with a simple sunscreen application.
I have always liked Neutrogena for me because it doesn’t break my skin out and I’ve never gotten sunburnt while using it. Anyone who has ever traveled with me knows I carry two bottles with me – Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen for my face, and the Neutrogena Wet Skin Kids Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70 for the rest of our bodies. I have tried a lot of sunscreens with the kids, and many cause a skin reaction with my oldest son. Others go on very white and stay that way throughout the day, which both of my boys hate. The Neutrogena line goes on white but then blends in. I like the Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen because it doesn’t make me look greasy.
Using a stick is convenient because you don’t have to worry about the sunscreen dripping all over, and it’s oil and PABA Free. Getting my kids to stand still long enough to apply sunscreen is a challenge so just grabbing the stick and rubbing it on their legs hands, arms and faces are effortless! Also, getting them out of the pool when they’re having fun with their friends for a re-application is never a fun task. The Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblock Stick is perfect for this because it works on wet and dry skin, doesn’t whiten when it’s applied, works up to 80 minutes, and is hypoallergenic. It also features Helioplex®, a breadth of stabilized sunscreen technologies that delivers excellent protection from the sun.
In addition, my boys wear rash guards when they swim, as well as hats and sunglasses when we are out for the day. Keeping them protected from all sides means that we don’t miss a day of Summer – so they can do and see more!
