When Reuben Robinson started crawling at just three months old, his mother had a hunch he was going to be a fast learner.
But the baby boy has astounded experts by getting to his feet and starting to walk at just six months old.
His mother, Connie Robinson, 38, said: “I couldn’t believe it. He just got up and started walking around the front room.
Child development experts said it was almost unbelievable that Reuben was walking at an age when most babies were still learning how to sit up.
Dame Lorna Muirhead, the former president of the Royal College of Midwives and a trustee of the charity Baby Lifeline, said the baby boy was “remarkable”.
“I’ve certainly never heard of a baby walking at six months,” she said.
“It is truly amazing, absolutely remarkable for a baby to be on his feet so young. If he continues at that rate he will be driving a car by the time he is five.
“I think most mothers would want a baby to cuddle in their arms for longer than six months. Normally, mothers are quite proud if their children start to walk before 12 months. For babies to start walking before a year, let alone six months, is exceptional.
My son has yet to walk and I am enjoying it. It’s nice when you put them somewhere and come back and they haven’t gone too far! This poor mom will have no time to herself, but on the plus side…all of the running after him will help with the pregnancy weight!
