Merlin Entertainments, in collaboration with Hasbro, have marked the grand opening of PEPPA PIG Theme Park Dallas-Fort Worth in North Richland Hills, Texas. While designed primarily for preschoolers, the park also aims to be an inclusive space for families with diverse needs, particularly those requiring sensory accommodations.
As a Certified Autism Center through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), the park incorporates accessibility features that allow families to navigate the experience with greater ease. Sensory Guides offer detailed insights into how attractions may affect children’s senses, helping families plan their visit accordingly. Additionally, designated quiet spaces provide areas for guests who may become overstimulated.
Wheelchair accessibility has been integrated into key areas of the park. PEPPA PIG’s Balloon Ride includes a wheelchair-accessible basket, allowing guests to board without transferring. Pathways throughout the park are designed to accommodate mobility devices, ensuring all visitors can explore the attractions without barriers.
Beyond rides, the park features interactive play areas intended to be welcoming to all children. The Muddy Puddles Splash Pad offers hands-on water play with gentle fountains, while themed playscapes such as PEPPA’s Treehouse and George’s Fort encourage exploration. Live performances at Mr. Potato’s Showtime Arena include interactive elements that are structured to be engaging without overwhelming children with sensory sensitivities.
Jeremy Aguillen, General Manager of PEPPA PIG Theme Park Dallas-Fort Worth, noted the park’s efforts toward inclusivity: “Creating a space where every child can participate is essential. We want families to feel confident that their child’s needs have been considered, from ride accessibility to sensory-friendly environments.”
Merlin Entertainments’ partnership with Hasbro has led to multiple PEPPA PIG attractions globally, including parks in Florida and Germany. These projects reflect a growing awareness in the theme park industry about the importance of accessibility and inclusive design.
PEPPA PIG Theme Park Dallas-Fort Worth officially opens to the public on March 1. The park will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no charge for parking.
