A couple from Vicksburg recently welcomed their third child in a rather unexpected location – the parking lot of one of their favorite breweries.
Mom-to-be Kyle Baker initially didn’t realize she was in labor, believing she was experiencing normal cramps. “I thought it was just random cramping,” she shared with FOX 17. “I only called him when the discomfort became more regular.”
When her husband, Aaron, arrived home, he noticed she seemed to be in mild pain but didn’t think the baby’s arrival was imminent. “I grabbed a quick bite to eat because she wasn’t rushing me out the door,” Aaron told FOX 17. “There was no ‘we need to go right now’ vibe.”
In what Aaron jokingly described as a “casual rush,” they got in the car, prepared to drive to Bronson Hospital. As they drove down Portage Road, just a few minutes into the 25-minute journey, Kyle’s contractions intensified. “The moans were getting louder, and I realized things were escalating fast,” Aaron said.
Still optimistic, Aaron thought they would make it to the hospital in time. But as the intensity of the situation grew, he called 911. The dispatcher advised him to find a place to stop and meet emergency responders. “I kept thinking we’d make it, but I also knew time was running out,” Aaron recalled.
It became clear they weren’t going to make it to the hospital, so Aaron pulled over. “I felt the baby’s head crowning, and at that point, there was no doubt—it was happening,” Kyle said.
Aaron told the dispatcher they were pulling into the parking lot of One Well Brewing. As the car came to a stop, Kyle began pushing. “Aaron barely had time to get around the car and open the door before our baby’s head emerged,” she recounted.
On August 13, which was the baby’s exact due date, their son was born right there in the brewery parking lot. Reflecting on the moment, Aaron expressed his relief at hearing the sound of sirens as emergency responders arrived. “At that point, I had no idea what to do next, so I was grateful help was on the way,” he said.
The couple chose to honor the memorable experience by naming their new baby boy Forest Wells Baker, cementing a lasting connection to the place they love.
