In an unbelievable story, a newborn baby girl in Uganda has survived a harrowing ordeal after being buried alive by her mother shortly after birth. The mother, only 23 years old, took this drastic action without any medical assistance, burying her baby in a garden shortly after she gave birth.
According to a case report from January, the baby was buried overnight and remained undiscovered until 11 am the next morning. Despite the horrifying conditions, the infant displayed signs of life when touched and was found to be taking shallow breaths. Photos revealed the baby covered in cuts and bruises, evidence of the immense pressure she endured while trapped underground.
In a race against time, rescuers pulled the baby from the makeshift grave, her tiny body caked in mud and blood. Medical professionals moved quickly, cleaning the baby and severing the umbilical cord. Remarkably, the infant was discharged from the hospital after six days and is now in the care of her grandmother.
The ordeal took a toll on the newborn, with her skin turning bluish from the cold and exposure. Wrapped in towels, she was rushed to the hospital for further evaluation, where she surprised everyone by crying out, a sign of her resilience.
Doctors worked tirelessly to sterilize her wounds and prevent infections, marveling at her survival against all odds. Despite the trauma, further examinations revealed no internal injuries, and within days, the baby was breathing on her own without the need for oxygen support.
Today, this brave little girl is thriving with her grandmother, while her mother faces legal consequences for her actions.
