One of my go-to brands as a mom has always been Fisher-Price. They have earned, and re-earned my respect many times over the years with their innovative toys and gear that have truly kept my kids entertained and engaged.
When I look back, from the very beginning, many of their products have been on my must-haves list. I can’t count the number of times I went to a baby shower carrying an aquarium bouncer or crib toy as my gift. A friend to friend recommendation is the highest honor a product can get, and many of Fisher-Price’s products are very high on my list. In fact, the bouncer and crib toy are safely packed up together in the basement ‘just in case’ we add more to our family. If not, they will be passed along to my sister to hopefully give her that piece of mind when it’s naptime or time to relax.
The corn popper everyone had as a child, the Rock a Stack; the quintessential first toy, baby’s first blocks and the Jumperoo – are all classics the company is famous for. So when I was asked by Fisher-Price to help in a survey to list my Top 10 favorites, I wasn’t surprised to see how many of my picks made the list.
Parenthood is made up of a series of moments that range from exciting to ‘how did I get here?’ And while we don’t often cherish the tough times, some of our most memorable moments happen when you least expect it. This happened a lot for us during playtime – especially when the kids were learning something new.
Watching them play with a new toy, master how to use it and find new ways to interact with it can be rewarding for both mom and baby. My oldest son has always loved the lights and sounds of a toy, which was a great way for him to learn his colors, numbers and some new songs.
New for 2015, the Laugh N Learn Puppy’s Smart Stages Speedway is a cute way for kids to play, and learn their letters and colors. Load the puppy onto the starting line and flick the orange switch to start the race! The car spins on the turn table round and round before it makes it’s way to the finish line!
On the side there are three buttons that each say a phrase when kids press them. Designed with the Smart Stages Technology, parents can set the toy to 1 for kids 6 months+, two for kids 12+, or three for kids 18 months+.
Each setting represents the three stages of learning; explore(First words and sounds spark baby’s curiosity), encourage(Prompts baby though questions and simple directions), and pretend(Imaginative fun and early role play). With each stage the toy says more, which is great for kids of all developmental stages.
Load a couple cars onto the turntable and see which one hits the finish line first!
