Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, offers an experience that lives up to its name — whether you’re diving into the action at Thrill Waterpark or unwinding on a white-sand beach. But for those craving a premium escape, the overwater cabanas at Coco Beach Club take island relaxation to a whole new level.
The Overwater Cabana Experience:
Tucked within the exclusive Coco Beach Club area, Royal Caribbean’s overwater cabanas provide a one-of-a-kind way to relax in paradise.
Each open-air cabana accommodates up to eight guests and must be booked directly through the cruise line beforehand. Pricing is per cabana and varies depending on your sailing, but it’s considered one of the most luxurious options available on the island.
Inside, you’ll find plenty of comfortable seating, including four lounge chairs, a large sectional sofa, and a private dining area.
Guests enjoy food delivery straight from the Coco Beach Club’s upscale restaurant, making it easy to enjoy a relaxing meal without leaving the cabana. A fully stocked fridge is also included, though only bottled water is complimentary unless you’ve purchased a beverage package.
Each cabana comes equipped with extras like fluffy towels, floating mats, and snorkel gear for exploring the beautiful Bahamian waters.
You’ll also have access to a private outdoor shower and a secure, lockable storage space for your belongings. Our favorite feature? The private slide that lets you slip directly into the ocean.
Overwater cabana guests also receive full-day access to the Coco Beach Club, which includes a temperature-controlled infinity pool, beach loungers, and a quiet environment that feels far removed from the hustle of the main beach areas.
Want the Coco Beach Club Experience Without a Cabana?
If you’d prefer to enjoy the club’s perks without reserving a cabana, day passes to Coco Beach Club® are available for $169–$319 USD per person, depending on your sailing. A day pass includes access to the clubhouse, a private beachfront, an infinity pool, beach chairs and towels, and complimentary dining at the Coco Beach Club restaurant.
The restaurant offers a menu of options like Ceviche, Herb-Marinated Filet Mignon, Grilled Caribbean Grouper, the popular Coco Lobster Sandwich, and Bahamian Rum Cake for dessert. For kids, the menu includes hamburgers, grouper sandwiches, chicken fingers, and wings. Royal’s website says complimentary coffee and pastries are served in the morning, with a lunch service from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that features a buffet of fresh salads and starters.
Cabanas Across the Island
Royal Caribbean offers a total of eight types of cabanas across CocoCay, each tailored to different experiences. These include:
- Chill Island Cabanas
- Oasis Lagoon Cabanas
- South Beach Cabanas
- Thrill Waterpark Cabanas (max 6 guests)
- Coco Beach Club Beach Cabanas
- Coco Beach Club Floating Cabanas
- Hideaway Beach Hideaway Cabanas
- Hideaway Beach Hideout Cabanas
All cabanas come with attendant service, which includes delivery of food and bottled water. Other beverages are only included if you have a Royal Caribbean drink package. Choosing the right cabana depends on the experience your family is after — whether that’s adventure, privacy, or somewhere in between.
The overwater bungalows are a great option for families looking to be close to water activities while enjoying the comfort of personal shade, seating, with no crowds. We’ve visited CocoCay many times, even with two ships in port, and never had an issue finding a beach chair. That said, if you’re looking to upgrade your day — or traveling with a larger group — a cabana can be the perfect way to elevate your island experience.
It’s also worth noting that the complimentary food throughout the island is surprisingly good. Favorites include massive mozzarella sticks, Philly cheesesteaks, chicken sandwiches, and funnel cakes — all available without additional charge at various food stations.
