Health Canada, along with Bily have announced a voluntary recall of about 26,108 Bily® Retractable Safety Gate because the surface coating applied on the metal tube of the gates contains barium in excess of allowable limits.
Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that these products do not meet the Canadian safety requirements for expansion gates. Specifically, the surface coating applied on the metal tube of the gates contains barium in excess of allowable limits.
As of January 10, 2020, the company has received no report of consumer incidents or injuries in Canada.
This recall involves Bily® Retractable Safety Gates, item number BG370018 and BG370200. The gates are available in white or black. The manufacturing date code label can be found at the bottom of the gate.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled expansion gates and contact Elfe Juvenile Products for a repair kit.
