Nuna Baby Essentials, Inc. recently announced a voluntary recall of its Rava Convertible Car Seats manufactured between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023. The recall is due to a potential defect in the harness adjustment mechanism that could compromise the seat’s ability to properly restrain children in a crash.
The defect involves the harness adjuster mechanism. Debris may enter the area where the adjuster button is located, preventing the mechanism’s teeth from securely clamping the adjuster strap. This could cause the harness to loosen unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury in an accident.
Is Your Car Seat Affected?
To determine if your Nuna Rava is part of the recall:
- Check the model number and date of manufacture, which are located on the bottom of the seat or the side of the carton.
- The recall covers model numbers manufactured between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023.
Affected models include popular designs like Caviar, Frost, Granite, and many more.
Nuna RAVA car seats produced after October 26, 2023 are not affected by this voluntary recall.
Parents can continue using their Nuna Rava car seat as long as the harness is securely holding their child.
To test this:
- Push on the seat back with one hand and pull firmly on the harness straps with the other.
- If the harness stays locked, the seat is safe to use temporarily.
- If the harness loosens during this test, stop using the car seat immediately and contact Nuna for assistance.
Nuna is offering a free remedy kit to affected consumers. This kit includes:
- A redesigned seat pad to prevent debris from entering the harness adjuster area.
- Instructions for checking and cleaning the harness adjuster if needed.
- Tools for cleaning or the option to contact Nuna for help with cleaning at no cost.
Parents can register for the remedy kit or check if their seat is affected by visiting Nuna’s recall landing page – www.nunababy.com/usa/recalls-rava1 For additional assistance, Nuna’s Consumer Team is available at 1-855-686-2891 or via email at info.usa@nunababy.com.
