On Tuesday, April 9, one of America’s smallest babies at birth was discharged from the hospital—eight months after he was born at just 26-weeks.
Born weighing less than 11 ounces, baby
Now weighing 11 pounds, Connor overcame chronic lung disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, neurodevelopmental disorder from a brain hemorrhage, feeding issues, plus, other medical conditions.
His parents are thrilled that he’s now healthy, smiling and laughing.
“For me, it doesn’t really seem real because we’ve waited so long for him to come home so I don’t think it’s really going to sink in until he’s actually in our house but I’m excited,” his mom told ABC7NY.com.
“It feels like we’ve spent so much time in the hospital that the hospital is the new normal and we’re going to have to get used to being normal again,” his dad said.
Connor was released home on oxygen, which is common for these little fighters who have struggled with under-developed lungs.
