Universal Kids Resort: New Details Revealed Ahead of 2026 Opening

Universal Kids Resort is taking shape in Frisco, Texas, and new details have been released about what families can expect when the first-of-its-kind theme park opens in 2026. Designed exclusively for younger children, the resort will offer an immersive experience filled with family-friendly attractions, interactive shows, unique merchandise, and character meet-and-greets.

What We Know So Far

Universal Kids Resort is designed to be a more intimate and engaging park experience, specifically catering to children under 46 inches tall. The park will feature a lush, green landscape. Unlike Universal’s larger destinations, this park will be approximately one-quarter the size of Universal Orlando, offering a completely different look and feel tailored to its audience.

Renderings suggest the park will be anchored by a major water ride, providing a way for guests to cool down in the hot Texas sun. In addition to rides and attractions, the park will feature interactive play areas and shaded rest zones, ensuring families have space to relax between adventures.

To complement the theme park, a 300-room themed hotel will provide a convenient and immersive place for families to stay. With easy access to the park, families can play, rest, and continue the fun without leaving the resort.

  • Shrek’s Swamp – A hands-on playground designed as if Shrek himself built it, featuring opportunities to climb, explore, and interact.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants’ Bikini Bottom – Guests can experience the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants, earning a boating license, meeting characters, and relaxing on a sandy beach.
  • Minion Mayhem Retreat – A vacation paradise gone wrong, overrun by mischievous Minions, leading to water-filled fun and surprises.
  • Jurassic World: Young Explorers – A kid-friendly dinosaur adventure, designed for young explorers to learn about and interact with prehistoric creatures.
  • Trolls’ Musical Festival – A colorful, glitter-filled celebration, where guests can sing, dance, and party with Poppy, Branch, and their friends.
  • Puss in Boots’ Kitty Carnival – An adoption fair hosted by Puss in Boots, featuring rides, carnival games, and a sensory-friendly relaxation area.
  • Gabby’s Dollhouse Immersive Experience – A retail-meets-play attraction, allowing children to step into Gabby’s colorful world.

Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative, has emphasized that the goal of Universal Kids Resort is to ignite children’s imaginations through play, discovery, and creativity. The park is carefully designed to provide interactive and educational experiences, ensuring young visitors have an unforgettable time with their favorite characters.

Dan Cuffe, Vice President and General Manager of Universal Kids Resort, has also highlighted the park’s commitment to engagement and accessibility, stating that beyond the rides, families will find ample areas to rest, themed food and beverage options, and fun character merchandise.
