The big news at the ABC Kids Show in Louisville this week was UPPAbaby’s Mesa Infant seat. Known for their functional, stylish baby gear, UPPAbaby announced they were expanding into the infant seat market at an event held for media and buyers.
Set to officially launch in March 2013, ‘the Mesa combines the safety, functionality, and ease of use parents and babies need to feel protected and reassured. It is the only infant car seat on the market that uses SMARTSECURE System, a unique technology utilizes a tightness indicator and self-retracting mini LATCH connectors to facilitate quick, accurate, and easy installation’.
As expected, the Mesa will be compatible with both the Cruz and the Vista without any additional adapters. Parents will love that it has an extremely low profile and slim base with a finished bottom to protect car upholstery.
Additional features include:
- No-rethread 5-point harness
- Adjustable headrest with SIP
- Convenient 1-push stroller release on carry handle Hideaway canopy
- Built-in lock-off for secure seatbelt installation
- 4 – 35 lbs and up to 32” in height
The Mesa ($279.99) will be offered in four fashions Sebby (teal), Drew (tangerine), Jake (black) and Lindsey (wheat).
For 2013 the Vista will be available in two new colors; Ella (Jade), Taylor (Indigo) and an updated red.
The 2013 Cruz will also undergo some enhancements for the coming year. It will come in a new lavender/grey shade and will be compatible with UPPAbaby’s bassinet and PiggyBack Ride-Along Board.
UPPAbaby also showed a new BabyGanoosh Footmuff. A perfect fit with all Vista and Cruz strollers, the comfy footmuff will keeps your child toasty warm regardless of what elements mother nature brings your way. Now longer, the BabyGanoosh also features PrimaLoft® Insulation Technology, which provides exceptional warmth while reducing the bulkiness that is often seen in these bunting bags.
New colors will also be introduced for the G-Lite and G-Luxe travel strollers. The G-Lite will now be available in Ella (Jade), while the G-Luxe will come in Jake(Black on a carbon frame) and Makena(Magenta).
Adding to the great overview of new products above, we think the Mesa should only be considered if you’ll be doing a LATCH install, as it’s very easy with LATCH. For seatbelt routing install, it’s not as easy for this base.
We’ve finally been able to publish a first round of feedback from real customers providing reviews on the Mesa. Their thoughts really help outline the Mesa’s strengths and areas for improvement… http://www.peppyparents.com/uppababy-mesa-reviews.html
I hope that’s helpful to new/expecting parents considering this seat!
