A pregnant woman in labour, driving herself to the hospital, crashed her car and gave birth while trapped in the mangled, partially submerged vehicle, authorities said.
Just before he started his shift on Sunday, Deputy Stephen Maxwell noticed a person’s head poking out through some tall grass along a canal bank.
“As I looked around her I saw the newborn baby laying in the passenger seat with the placenta and umbilical cord still attached,” Maxwell said.
Maxwell and another deputy freed the woman and her baby. There had been a strong contraction that had caused her to loose control of the car.
This poor girl had not told her family she was pregnant. Her father figured that she didn’t tell relatives about the pregnancy because she was afraid of their reaction.
The baby has been named Myracle and her family is welcoming the new edition with open arms.
